Pursuant to his research for the recently-released book, Ian
Gardner found a 1944 aerial photo of this entire area. I have a
weak Xerox of that around here somewhere, and will try to find it.
If we could see a clear aerial shot of the area near the 2-track, which
runs under the RR overpass, we could at least determine if the small
farmhouse shown in Lt Speirs' diagrams existed at that time. That
is the only detail currently missing, which doesn't match-up to the
area near the overpass shown in Speirs' diagrams . When Speirs
consulted a map after the war to draw his diagram, he included the
rr overpass and he must have been aware of it in 1944. This is yet
another reason why I believe he depicted the correct location-which is
near the 2 track and the RR overpass. One of his diagrams indicates that
his platoon crossed the railroad tracks twice that day.
Another thing is that Winters complained that the retro movement by Fox
Co. exposed his left flank that day. With the cattle market scenario, these
two companies would be nowhere near in-line with each other when the
engagement began and Fox would've had to retreat about 1.5 miles, to get
behind Easy Co.

I also don't know if their Pz Jag unit had Marders or StuG's.
( I haven't seen any photos of Marders KOd in the 13 June fighting below Carentan).
